Straumur Capital Management (SCM) provides fund management services to institutional and high net worth clients through a range of investment and co-investment vehicles that complement our activities in other business lines.

SCM offers our clients a means to participate as principals, alongside the Bank, in specialist investment opportunities. These include private equity and alternative investments within the northern and central European region.

Straumur has, during its business life, built considerable trading and risk management expertise through the bank’s successful proprietary trading activities.  Further investments in infrastructure have expanded the bank’s capabilities significantly, balancing risk taking with appropriate oversight and control.  Leveraging this experience and investment, SCM will, in cooperation with Merchant Banking, Capital Markets and other relevant divisions of the Bank, act as an incubator and service provider to various new hedge funds for institutional investors.

SCM will offer an attractive partnership to experienced fund managers and existing funds.  Merchant Banking will invest directly in the SCM funds, while creating a venue for clients and investors to participate in various investment opportunities arising from Straumur’s footprint in Northern and Central Europe.

SCM is launching its first funds. The European Special Situations Event Driven Fund, Julia Capital Management, is initiating its activities. A number of launches and affiliations are in the pipeline this year.

The SCM initiative will complement the asset management activities conducted by Straumur, eQ and Wood.
